Nothing says Independence Day quite like fireworks lighting up the Northwest Ohio sky. Whether you’re looking for a hometown celebration, a riverfront spectacular, or a full day of family fun, communities across the region are preparing for another busy Fourth of July weekend.

Here’s a look at some of the largest fireworks displays and celebrations happening across Northwest Ohio.


Thursday, July 2

Oregon

Freedom Fest
Location: Oak Shade Grove
Festival: 5-11 p.m.
Fireworks: Dusk
Live entertainment, food trucks, kids activities, bounce houses and fireworks are planned during Oregon’s “Celebrates America 250” Freedom Fest.

Swanton

Location: Memorial Park
Festival: 4-10 p.m.
Fireworks: Dusk
The village’s America 250 celebration features food trucks and family activities before fireworks at dusk.

Whitehouse

Location: Blue Creek Metropark & Village Hall
Activities Begin: 5 p.m.
Fireworks: Dusk
Food trucks, live music by The 25’s, inflatables, face painting, local history exhibits and one of the area’s most popular fireworks displays.

Woodville

Location: Trail Marker Park
Fireworks: Dusk
The annual Woodville Fourth of July Celebration includes rides, live entertainment, a beer tent and fireworks Thursday evening before the festival continues through July 4.


Friday, July 3

Bowling Green

BG BOOM Festival
Location: Wood County Fairgrounds
Festival: 4-9 p.m.
Fireworks: Dusk
Enjoy inflatables, games, food trucks, live music and a free fireworks show.

Defiance

Fireworks: Dusk
Celebrate America 250 at the confluence of the Maumee and Auglaize rivers. Food vendors and children’s activities will be available at Kingsbury Park from 4-9 p.m. Fireworks can be viewed from Pontiac Park, Kingsbury Park and the Fort Defiance Grounds.

Perrysburg & Maumee

Fireworks: 10 p.m.
Fireworks launch near the Fort Meigs Memorial Bridge. Popular viewing locations include Fort Meigs Historic Site, Riverside Park, Orleans Park and the Towpath Trail. Expect road closures and heavy traffic before and after the show.

Sylvania

Star-Spangled Fireworks
Location: Centennial Terrace
Gates: 6 p.m.
Entertainment: 56 Daze
Fireworks: 10 p.m.
Admission is charged. Fireworks can also be viewed from nearby Pacesetter Park.


Saturday, July 4

Findlay

Location: Hancock County Fairgrounds
Fireworks: Dusk
A full day of activities includes a 5K, car show, kids zone, more than 20 food trucks, live entertainment and fireworks after dark.

Napoleon

Location: Napoleon High School Grounds

Fireworks: 10 p.m.
Viewing is available from Glenwood Park and surrounding school property. Parking restrictions will be in effect near the launch site.

Toledo

Fireworks in the 419
Fireworks: Dark
Downtown Toledo expects more than 80,000 visitors for this year’s celebration. Promenade Park will feature live music, food trucks and beverages beginning at 6 p.m. Fireworks can be viewed from both sides of the Maumee River, including Promenade Park, Glass City Metropark and Middlegrounds Metropark. Visitors should expect extensive road closures, parking restrictions and security measures.

Waterville

Location: Prairie Trail Park / Waterville Primary School
Celebration Begins: 5:30 p.m.
Fireworks: Dusk
The city’s largest fireworks display to date will feature food trucks, inflatables, music, games and family activities before the fireworks.


Planning to Go?

Many communities expect large crowds, so organizers recommend arriving early, bringing lawn chairs or blankets where permitted, and checking event social media pages for weather-related updates before heading out.
