TOLEDO, Ohio — Multiple agencies are continuing the search for an 11-year-old Toledo girl who went missing following a boating incident on Lake Erie.

Authorities identified the child as Angelique Cunningham. Search crews have been working since Thursday after the boat she was riding in was recovered near West Sister Island.

Officials said the body of an adult man who had been on the boat was found about a mile offshore near Meinke Marina. His identity has not yet been released.

A woman who was also aboard the boat was able to swim to shore. The Lucas County Sheriff’s Office said she was the child’s babysitter and has been interviewed by investigators.

According to investigators, the three had been on a recreational boat ride Wednesday evening. Authorities said there is no indication of foul play at this time, and the investigation is being treated as a boating incident while search efforts remain focused on locating the missing child.

The search includes personnel from Toledo Fire and Rescue, the Lucas County Sheriff’s Office, the U.S. Coast Guard, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Oregon Fire and Jerusalem Township Fire.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 419-255-1111.
