LAKE TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A Toledo man was killed Friday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash in Wood County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at approximately 1:58 p.m. on State Route 579 in Lake Township.
Investigators said a Jeep Wrangler and a GMC Acadia were both traveling eastbound when the Jeep struck the rear of the SUV after failing to maintain an assured clear distance ahead. The Jeep then traveled off the north side of the roadway and overturned.
The driver of the Jeep, identified as 46-year-old Aaron Stoldt of Toledo, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the GMC, 28-year-old Nickelle Lee of Toledo, was not identified as having sustained life-threatening injuries.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the crash.
Assisting at the scene were the Northwood Police Department, Northwood Fire Department, Lake Township EMS, the Wood County Coroner’s Office and Rau’s Towing.
