SANDUSKY, Ohio — Holy Schnikes! Sandusky is rolling out the red carpet — and brake pads — for fans of the beloved 1995 comedy Tommy Boy. To mark the film’s 30th anniversary, the city will host Tommy Boy Fest from August 7–9, 2025, a weekend-long celebration honoring the Sandusky-based classic that put Callahan Auto Parts on the (fictional) map.

The festival kicks off Thursday night with Destination Sandusky’s Party at the Pier at Jackson Street Pier, featuring high-energy Ohio cover band The Menus. On Friday and Saturday, the action shifts into high gear with movie-themed festivities across downtown, including:

  • An outdoor classic car show featuring TV and film vehicles
  • Giant-screen showings of Tommy Boy on the waterfront
  • The “Tommy Want Wingy Throwdown,” sponsored by Ability Works
  • Character look-alike contests and a Sandusky scavenger hunt
  • A public Q&A with the film’s director, Peter Segal
  • A photo op with Segal’s fully restored 1967 Plymouth Belvedere II GTX — the original road trip car from the film

Locals named Tom or Tommy are also invited to gather for a group photo, adding a personal hometown twist to the festivities.

The festival coincides with Small City Taphouse’s annual CLAG Brewing Festival, promising even more fun with craft beer, live music, and a downtown street party. With both events just blocks apart, it’s set to be a packed weekend in the heart of Sandusky.

Tommy Boy Fest is presented by the City of Sandusky, the Greater Sandusky Partnership, and Shores & Islands Ohio. For a full schedule and event updates, visit TommyBoyFest.com.
