TOLEDO, Ohio — A 38-year-old man from West Virginia died Thursday after being struck by a vehicle on Interstate 75 in Toledo.

According to Toledo Police, Jessie Moats was initially involved in a single-vehicle crash while traveling northbound on I-75 near the Anthony Wayne Trail. After the crash, investigators say he left the scene on foot and crossed over the concrete median barrier separating northbound and southbound traffic.

Police report that Moats was then struck by a vehicle traveling southbound on the interstate. Emergency crews transported him to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
