Toledo, OH — The Toledo Free Press is inviting the community to gather downtown for a special watch party celebrating the debut of The Paper, a brand-new sitcom with deep Toledo ties. The event takes place Thursday, September 4 at 8 p.m. at The Blarney Irish Pub.
The watch party will showcase the first two episodes of the series, followed by group discussion about whether The Paper truly captures the essence of Toledo’s spirit.
Created by Greg Daniels (The Office) and Michael Koman, The Paper is a mockumentary-style sitcom that serves as both a follow-up and spinoff of The Office. The series is set at the Toledo Truth-Teller, a once-proud Midwestern newspaper now struggling to revive itself with the help of volunteer reporters.
The cast includes Domhnall Gleeson as new editor-in-chief Ned Sampson and Sabrina Impacciatore as Esmeralda Grand, alongside Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, Ramona Young, and Tim Key. Fans of The Office will also spot a familiar face: Oscar Nuñez, reprising his role as Oscar Martinez.
The series officially premieres the same day, September 4, 2025, on Peacock.
