Toledo, Ohio — The Lucas County Juvenile Court will be closed Wednesday after the City of Toledo shuts off water service to the courthouse for repairs tied to a water main leak.

Water to the building at 1801 Spielbusch Ave. is scheduled to be turned off starting at 7:30 a.m. as crews work to fix a leak that began earlier this month. Officials anticipate service could be restored by the end of the business day, though an exact timeline has not been confirmed.

The closure was authorized by Judge Linda M. Knepp due to the lack of running water for employees and visitors during the repairs.

Despite the courthouse closure, the Juvenile Detention Center will remain fully operational. Staff will report to work as scheduled, and officials said water will be available as needed to support detained youth and employees. Visitation at the detention center is still planned for 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

All court hearings set for Wednesday, including specialty dockets, will be rescheduled at the discretion of the assigned judge or magistrate. Individuals involved in those cases will be notified of new dates. Delinquency arraignments will take place on the next business day the court reopens.

Those with questions regarding rescheduled cases may contact the Juvenile Court Clerk’s Office at 419-213-6744 beginning Thursday morning.
