Grand Rapids, OH, April 2, 2025 – The Wood County Emergency Management Agency is warning residents across Northwest Ohio to prepare for severe weather today and tonight. Wood County and surrounding areas are under an enhanced risk (3 out of 5) for severe storms, with damaging winds, large hail, and isolated tornadoes possible as storms move through the region.

Weather Timeline for Northwest Ohio

  • Morning: Showers and thunderstorms continue, with gusts up to 45 mph and small hail possible.
  • Afternoon: Occasional showers expected.
  • Evening/Night (9 PM – 1 AM): A line of strong to severe storms could bring damaging winds over 55 mph, large hail, and isolated tornadoes.
  • Late Night (1 AM – 5 AM): Heavy rain of 1-2 inches is expected, increasing the risk of localized flooding.

Storm Threats

  • Hail: Up to golf ball size in isolated storms.
  • Winds: 60-74 mph, with potential swaths of 75+ mph.
  • Tornadoes: 10-14% chance in southern Wood County; 5-9% elsewhere in the region.
