GRAND RAPIDS, OH — The Rhythm on the River Arts Series continues Sunday, July 20, with a free performance by the Lake Effect Clarinet Quartet at 4:00 p.m. The concert takes place at Wright Pavilion, located along the towpath between the canal and the Maumee River behind LaRoe’s.
Presented by the Historical Society of Grand Rapids, the quartet—formed at DePaul University—is known for reimagining classical works through the versatile sounds of the clarinet family. Members Nora Shaffer, Erin Miesner, Cally Laughlin, and Joseph Sanchez are active musicians and educators based in Chicago.
Concertgoers are encouraged to bring chairs or blankets. In case of rain, the event will move to the Old Fire Station on Front Street.
Shops and restaurants in Grand Rapids will be open during the concert, offering a full afternoon experience in the village.
