GRAND RAPIDS, Ohio — Voters in the Village of Grand Rapids selected four members to serve on Village Council and approved two key local levies — one for fire protection and another for the village pool — during Tuesday’s general election.
Eight candidates were on the ballot for four open council seats. When the votes were tallied, the top four finishers were:
- Louise M. Estep (217 votes / 20.65%)
- Jody K. Donsbach (173 / 16.46%)
- Sean Thiebaut (167 / 15.89%)
- Douglas J. Grey (142 / 13.51%)
Each of the above four will be sworn in to Grand Rapids Council in 2026. Other candidates included Matthew Tolles (133 / 12.65%), Nathan Bolton (89 / 8.47%), Patrick Nagle (80 / 7.61%), and Lynn C. Sylvain (50 / 4.76%).
Voters also approved two local ballot issues:
- The Grand Rapids Township Fire Levy passed with 309 votes (65.88%) in favor and 160 (34.12%) opposed, ensuring continued funding for township fire protection.
- A new Grand Rapids Pool Levy was also approved, passing 285 to 191 (59.87%–40.13%), providing new funding for maintenance and operation of the village pool.
In the Otsego Local Schools Board of Education race — which spans Wood, Lucas, and Henry counties — combined totals show a very close outcome. When all three counties were counted, the results were:
- Angela K. Powell — 1,343 votes (29.64%)
- Allen C. Limes — 1,179 votes (26.03%)
- Bradley J. Anderson — 977 votes (21.57%)
- Mark D. Tolles — 970 votes (21.41%)
(Combined totals: Wood + Lucas + Henry — Powell 1,209 + 108 + 17; Limes 1,057 + 102 + 20; Tolles 856 + 101 + 12; Anderson 891 + 77 + 9.)
Election results are unofficial until certified by the Wood, Lucas, and Henry County Boards of Elections.
