Fatal Crash Under Investigation After Collision on Anthony Wayne Trail in Waterville

WATERVILLE, Ohio — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that occurred late Thursday night on the Anthony Wayne Trail at Mechanic Street in Waterville.

According to officials from the Patrol’s Toledo Post, the crash happened at approximately 11:38 p.m. on July 24. Authorities say 18-year-old Dustin L. Wyckoff of Haskins was driving a 2005 Chevrolet 2500 pickup truck southwest on the Anthony Wayne Trail when it collided with a northeast-bound vehicle driven by 41-year-old Zachary S. Lambert of Toledo.

The two vehicles made contact at the intersection of Anthony Wayne Trail and Mechanic Street. Lambert was pronounced dead at the scene. The Patrol confirmed that Lambert was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, and Wyckoff was wearing a safety belt.

The Anthony Wayne Trail was closed for approximately two hours during the investigation and cleanup but has since reopened.

Responding agencies included the Waterville Police Department, Waterville Township Police Department, Waterville Fire & EMS, Whitehouse EMS, and the Lucas County Coroner’s Office. The crash remains under investigation.
