MOORESVILLE, N.C. (Jan. 15, 2025) – JR Motorsports (JRM) is set to debut in the NASCAR Cup Series with a No. 40 Traveller Whiskey Chevrolet in the 2025 DAYTONA 500. NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Grammy-winning artist Chris Stapleton have partnered to field the car, driven by defending Xfinity Series Champion Justin Allgaier.
Backed by Buffalo Trace Distillery, the car’s design is inspired by Blend No. 40, a key element of Stapleton’s Traveller Whiskey. “This is the perfect opportunity for JRM,” said Earnhardt Jr. “With Justin’s championship and Chris’s star power, everything aligned for our Cup debut.”
Traveller Whiskey launched in 2024 and has already won 15 awards, including “Best in Class Gold” at the Whiskies of the World competition. “Joining JRM for the DAYTONA 500 is a natural fit,” said Stapleton. “I’m excited to see Justin take the No. 40 to the track.”

Allgaier, JRM’s most decorated driver, is a five-time NXS Most Popular Driver and a previous Cup competitor. “Driving JRM’s first Cup entry, especially with Dale, Kelley, and Chris, makes this even more special,” he said.
JRM’s entry into the Cup Series is a historic milestone, following their Xfinity success with 88 wins and four championships.
Fans can watch Allgaier in the No. 40 Traveller Whiskey Chevrolet during Speedweeks at Daytona. Qualifying is set for Feb. 12 at 8:00 p.m. ET, followed by the Duels on Feb. 13 at 7:00 p.m. ET. The DAYTONA 500 airs Feb. 16 at 2:30 p.m. ET on FOX, MRN, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
