Grand Rapids, Ohio – The Village of Grand Rapids Council has announced a new ordinance that shifts the start time of regular council meetings to 6 p.m., effective from November onward. This ordinance, passed on October 16, moves the meeting start time an hour earlier, with meetings continuing to take place on the second and fourth Monday of each month.
The change aims to make it easier for residents who wish to participate in both the Village Council and the Grand Rapids Township meetings, which are also scheduled on the same evenings but start at 7 p.m. With this new arrangement, attendees have the option to participate fully in the Village Council meeting before heading to the Township meeting.
Council members highlighted the benefit of fostering greater civic engagement and making it more convenient for community members to stay informed on issues affecting both the village and the township.
The ordinance reaffirms that all meetings will be held in Grand Rapids Town Hall, located in the heart of the village.
