Luckey, OH — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has paused shipments of hazardous waste from Luckey, Ohio, following a court ruling related to waste disposal.
Since 2018, material from the Luckey site, located 22 miles southeast of Toledo, has been transported to Wayne Disposal, a landfill in Michigan capable of handling toxic substances.
The site was historically used to produce beryllium after World War II, leaving behind contaminated soils containing beryllium, lead, uranium, and thorium. Shipments are on hold pending further legal review.
