The next program of the Rhythm on the River Arts Series in Grand Rapids will be presented by Public Scene at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 11. The programs are held in the Wright Pavilion located on the towpath between the canal and the Maumee River at the end of Lincoln Street behind LaRoe’s Venue. They are sponsored by the Historical Society of Grand Rapids.
Public Scene chooses music from early rock, country pop, jazzy blues and great slow songs. Members are: Jerry Spitler (bass guitar and vocals), who is called “JerBear” by his friends; Doug Rahe (drummer and vocals); and Mike Tomalewski (guitar player and vocals). These three gentlemen are lifetime professional stage musicians and dedicated to their art. They perform in small towns, major cities, restaurants, car shows, campgrounds, breweries, and in many other venues. Listeners always ask where they are playing next!
The concert is free, so bring your lawn chairs or blankets and join us in this beautiful setting alongside the Maumee River and enjoy these experienced and talented artists! In case of inclement weather, the program will be moved farther west on Front St. to the Old Fire Station.
Plan to spend an afternoon in lovely, historic Grand Rapids. Many of the shops and restaurants will be open on the Sundays when River on the River concerts are held, so you can enjoy a very special day in the village.
