The next program of the Rhythm on the River Arts Series in Grand Rapids will be presented by The Grape Smugglers on Sunday, August 4th at 4:00 p.m. The programs are held in the Wright Pavilion located on the towpath between the canal and the Maumee River at the end of Lincoln Street behind LaRoe’s Venue. The Rhythm programs are sponsored by the Grand Rapids Historical Society and are free to the public.
Members of The Grape Smugglers are Dave Stella (guitar, vocals), Pat McDonagh (guitar, vocals), Bernie Greenberg (bass, vocals, more bass), Tim Tiderman (keyboards, vocals, jokes), Chuck Caswell (drums), Bob Manley (sax, flute), John Grafing (trumpet), and Bob Hoff (trombone). This unique band covers many genres of music, including blues, rock, vintage R&B and soul, and a pinch of country. These seasoned musicians incorporate riveting solos into their performances making their concerts memorable and keeping their fan base growing.
Bring your lawn chairs or blankets and join us in this beautiful setting alongside the Maumee River to take a musical journey with these talented (and sometimes humorous) veteran musicians. In case of rain, the program will be moved to the Old Fire Station, farther west on Front St.
Plan to spend an afternoon in lovely, historic Grand Rapids. Many of the shops and restaurants will be open on the Sundays when River on the River concerts are held, so you can enjoy a very special day in the village.
